Babies Don't Keep.....

I found this poem on another blog I read and thought it was so beautiful. I know many of us don't have five children but I thought this was fitting for those of us with only one or two. :)

Song for a Fifth Child

by Ruth Hulburt Hamilton

Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing and butter the bread,
Sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking? She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I’ve grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due(Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue?(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
For children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

Snow in GA!

It finally got cold enough to snow here last weekend. We were sitting in church when the rain started turning to puffy little snowflakes. Sophia was in love with it and wanted to get right in it but I made her take a nap first. I know I'm a mean momma. :) As soon as she woke up though she was asking to go outside in it. We took her out and lasted about 30 mins I was freezing and so was Phil. I think Sophia was cold as well she was shivering but when I asked if she was ready to go in she said NO!! :) I think we ended up getting about 3 inches which is pretty decent for this time of year. Since the snow it has been in the mid to low 70s and everything is blooming....weather is crazy!

Sophia making snow balls with Daddy...she is also mid fall...at least she fell in snow. :)

Day Trip to Alabama

My friend Kandis and I loaded up our girls and drove to Alabama for the day this past Monday. We went to go visit our good friend Emorie and her two little girls. It was a rather uneventful trip down the girls did great. They basically sat in the back listened to music ate fruit and cereal and stole each others toys. :) We met Emorie in Opelika AL which has some wonderful shopping that I never knew about. We will definitely be going there again. We sat around Target for awhile and caught up and then decided it was time to get the girls some grub. We went to our favorite place Chic fil A. I can't actually eat there right now I'm so sick of it. :) Lunch was wild as usual food and drink everywhere. After they ate though (or when we gave up) they went and played in one of those indoor play areas and that was wonderful because they were contained and we could actually talk. It was so great getting to see Emorie and her girls again it really felt like we hadn't seen each other in a long time. After the girls got tired of playing there we decided to move it to a park that both Emorie and Kandis had found online. This was one of the best parks I have seen!! They had several different play areas with a little creek running through it. There was also a train track that ran around it but the train wasn't running that day...of course. :) We stayed there for at least an hour or two and are planning to meet there again in May for Issy's birthday!! I can't believe that little girl is going to be 3 already!! Kandis and I left from there and both our girls crashed out not long after leaving...it was a nice quite ride home. :)

On our way to Opelika!!

Reagan trying to steal Sophia's cereal...gotta love the expression Sophia is giving. :)

Issy isn't she beautiful!

Reagan having fun in the slide at Chic fil A

Sophia really likes Kandis. I took this picture as she was scooting closer to sit next to her. :)

static hair! Oh on a side note I bought the horse and pig for her at Target. They were in the dollar bin. Everywhere we went Reagan and Issy kept trying to pick them up so Sophia wouldn't let the animals go when we were at the park and took them everywhere with her. :)

JuJu Bean and her cute smile.

They were holding hands so sweetly...then I got my camera and Sophia closed her eyes and Reagan stuck her finger up her nose. :)

Crashed out on the way home

Sophia's trip to the ER!

Okay well most of you who read my blog already now that Sophia fell about two weeks ago and busted her head open a bit. We aren't really sure how she fell because Phil had left to go to Rite Aid and I was in charge of dinner. So off I went to see about dinner thinking Sophia was in our bedroom watching cartoons then I hear this loud thud followed by some of the worst screaming I've ever heard. I come running in the living room to find her laying on her back next to this square column we have in our dining room/living room. She had blood running down the side of her face and I was totally freaking out. I tried calling Phil a few times but he said he never heard it ring and his phone didn't show any missed calls so they must not have been going through. Well when he got home we decided we needed to take her to the ER because it was definitely going to need stitches. The funny thing is...is that by the time we got to the ER she was fine. She was in the backseat laughing and talking we take her into the ER and she starts jumping and twirling. Kids are definitely resilient!! Lucky for her and us the doctor was able to just glue it closed so there wont be as noticeable a scar. The doctor said she did great though she just layed there and let him put the glue onto the cut. She even got a popsicle when he was done which she thought was great! She is doing fine but has got me so on edge! She falls all the time and maybe I'm just noticing it more now but she really is such a klutz. In fact she ran into that same column again on Friday night. She turned around to run away from the dog and smacked right into the edge of it again. Gave her a nice bruise and mark on the other side of her forehead to match the cut she already has. I'm about ready to wrap every inch of the house in foam!! :)

My poor baby! This was taken when we got home from the ER.
