Late Christmas Post

Here are a few pictures from our Christmas this year. We decided to stay in town this year since Sophia was so aware of what was going on. It was a lot of fun to see her reaction when she woke up Christmas morning and saw her presents under the tree. It was really a very relaxing day and we spent a lot of time playing with all of her new toys.

Phil took this one Christmas Eve. I thought it turned out really fun!

Sophia got a candy land game from Robert, Carly and Andrew. Do you think she likes it?

This is me trying to teach her how to play...she didn't have much patience for following the rules. :)

Chef Sophia thought Santa would like some chocolate milk to go with his cookies. I think she just wanted to mix something. :)

Picking out which cookies she wanted to leave for Santa. I love that Cleveland is eyeing up the cookies too.

Sophia with her new camera...daddy taking a picture of Sophia taking a picture of daddy.

A little blurry but she got a train table for Christmas. She LOVES it!!

We hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Our First Pig Roast

The pig roast idea all started after Sophia's birthday party. We went out to dinner afterwards with the Nunos and Phil and Luis started talked about different family traditions and less than a month later we were roasting a pig in the Senoia park.

They were able to get a pig from the local butcher and the rest of the details I'm not really sure about. It did involve Phil going over to his friends Justin's house to weld a rack to put the pig on, some fire and a lot of sitting around waiting.

We invited a lot of our friends to come out and help us eat all the pork most of them still had family in town and couldn't make it but we did get some takers and we had a lot of fun. Even though it was freezing cold! We had good food, friends, and fun!

The pig all wrapped up...I wont show you what it looked like before it was cooked. He wasn't very cute.

Yum! The finished product.

Meat, meat and more meat!

The boys responsible! Phil, Luis and Justin

Sneaking a taste!

I took this picture of Sam and thought it was pretty cute. It's hard not to take a good picture of this little man.

Phil took this one while he was sitting around waiting on the pig to cook. I thought it was pretty.

Chef Sophia

Sophia has recently discovered the joy of cooking. She mostly likes to help mix things up for me. The other day I was making a cream sauce and she helped me saute an onion and she thought she was hot stuff doing that. :) She also recently received an apron from Publix's preschool Pals in the mail. This is just a newsletter that Publix sends out and they usually put something in the envelope for the kids. This time it was an apron and as soon as she got it she wanted to put it on and test it out.

Well we didn't have anything to cook that day seeing as we were going to a friends house for dinner but we did have a leftover roll of cookie dough. :) Phil pre-heated the oven and sliced it up for her. As soon as he was done she got to put the dough onto the baking sheet and when they came out she loaded them up with green sprinkles! So here are a few pictures of our chef in training.

The cookie dough all sliced and ready for little fingers.

Laying out the dough very carefully...kinda sorta. :)

She saw daddy eat some of the dough and decided she would like to try it too.

Phil making some fancy cookies for us. :)

Potty Time!

Well we have finally made some progress with Sophia's potty training. Before today she wouldn't even consider sitting on the potty. I'm not sure what happened when she was younger but she has always seemed scared of the potty.

Well today with a little help from Santa and a little bribery with M&Ms (our last resort) she has finally sat on the potty and actually peed in it several times!! We are very proud of her and I think she is proud of herself. She has done great at home but she is a little distracted out in public restrooms. There are so many things to play with and ask questions about. :)

This is the first and last picture I got of Sophia on the potty. After I took this picture she wanted me to close the door and has asked for the door closed every time since then. :) I guess we all want a bit of privacy. :)

These are a few of my favorite things....

What can I say it's a classic and one of my all time favorite Christmas movies!

I'm not a big cook but I love her blog and the pictures in this cookbook are just GORGEOUS! Also if you mail it to her she will sign it for you and mail it back how nice is that!

In the words of Rachel Ray YUMO! This is Starbucks new drink for the holiday season. It is called the Caramel Brulee and boy is it yummy! I just went to go get one and it must be popular all over the United States because they are sold out and not only at my local Starbucks but Nation Wide!!! I couldn't believe it..soo I settled for my fall favorite Pumpkin Spice Latte. :)

This is the best thing since sliced bread! My eyelashes have never been longer! I put this on everyday now it doesn't clump like all my other mascara used to do. In fact I had given up putting on mascara until this gem came into my life.

I LOVE these shoes!!! I found them at Target today and instantly knew they had to be mine and luckily they had one pair left in my size. It was meant to be! It doesn't hurt that it is soooo comfortable as well. People who know me know that I like comfort. :)

Pre-School Christmas Program

Yesterday was Sophia's Christmas school program. She did a great job better than I ever expected her to do. First of all I wasn't sure if she would even stay up there once she saw Phil and I but she did. She sang most of the songs and did a lot of the motions to the songs. I assumed they would probably be singing Jingle Bells since she has been singing it all week and has had me put it on repeat in the truck when we are going anywhere. They did sing it and she shook her bell for all its worth! :) After they got done singing we went to her classroom for her party which was basically a snack but she enjoyed it and they got to have food they normally don't get. She seems to really be enjoying school and the teachers say that she does really well. Especially since she has started sitting on the potty for them!! Finally some progress but she told me yesterday that she would sit on Mrs. Schultz potty (her teacher) but not the potty at home. :)

These pictures are kinda far away because Phil had to go stand in the balcony to get any. There were a lot of parents wanting to get pictures of there kids...and you would be amazed at the silly faces parents will make. It looked like we were all meeting someone famous! :)

I think she is making a Christmas tree motion here. I think this is the song she really liked and I have never ever heard it so I can't sing it for her.

Party time...The little boy in the blue is her friend Tyler that we hear about all the time. :)

Being a silly girl with her pretzels.

Late Weekend Wrap Up!

So this post is really late seeing as it is Friday now! Oh well here is a little wrap up of what we did last weekend.

On Saturday it was definitely a party day for the kiddos! We started off by going to a birthday party for Sophia's friend Brooke. It was held at A Place to Play. Very similar to the jump place that we took Sophia but this place also had hard slides and tubes to play in. We had a great time catching up with our friends and I know Sophia did getting to play with her friends. She just had a bit of a problem getting up one of the platforms but the other kids were nice and would help her up it. Eventually she just got to were she would stand there until someone would come along and help her instead of figuring out how to get up it herself...not sure what was up with that. Guess she figured it was easier that way. :)

This is Lorelie, Sophia and Reagan going down the slides. Phil decided to show the kids how they could sit on their jackets and make it faster...that really started something then. :)

Besties!

Later that night we went to our church for the Jesus Lambs Christmas Party! This year it was Polar Express themed. They had a lot of toy trains out that Sophia loved, they had hot chocolate, made a Christmas list and then got to meet Santa himself! We had a lot of fun and the ladies that organized it out did themselves!

This is the kids riding the Polar Express up to the North Pole. They were listening to the story being read to them.

I just thought this was really cute! An impromptu dance around the tree...Sophia is on the other side. :)

She wasn't scared of Santa at all this year!

Almost Wordless Wednesday

Sophia drinking her coffee oops I mean hot chocolate at the Christmas Party. :)

Through the years....

I always love looking back at all the pictures we have taken at the Senoia Christmas Parade. They always bring back so many memories. I thought I would share them with you...so here is a look through the years.

Phil and I in 2005. Look how young we look! :) Three months later I would find out that I was expecting!

December 2006...I would be going in to have Sophia on December 18th...just a few short days away from when this picture was taken.

December 2007. We had just celebrated Sophia's first birthday with friends and family. This was a very happy day!

December 2008. Sophia is two here..and a very uncooperative model! :)

December 2009. I think we look very festive here...and Sophia is a much more cooperative model these days! :)

Weekend Wrap Up

Our weekend actually started on Thursday this week. We had Sophia's birthday party this past Thursday and it was so much fun! We had it at Jumping Jelly Beans this year so there would be less stress on us trying to get things together and she just happens to love jumping. We had a good turnout I think twelve of the fifteen kids that I invited were able to come. The kids got to jump for about an hour and then they took us into the party room and the kids had juice, pizza, ice cream and cake. They also had an inflatable throne for the birthday girl to sit on to open her presents. Sophia was a little scared by it. I think because the machine blowing it up was so loud. It worked out though and she just had her daddy sit on it with her. :) Here are a few pics from the party. I can't believe my baby girl with be three on the eighteenth! Crazy how the time passes by so quickly.

This is jumping Jelly Beans. Phil took this from the top of the slide. It was really high and a lot of fun to slide down!

Sophia going down the really tall slide!

This is my friend Carly's little boy Andrew. We had just gone down the slide...I have a really funny one of him going down. I'll try to find it and post it later. :)

My funny girl!

The Birthday Cake! This is what she asked for and she loved it. :)

Opening presents with Daddy.

Saturday was the annual Senoia Christmas Parade. It was freezing cold but we couldn't miss it because we go every year and it is about the only time we can get a family picture. :) We had a lot of fun! We met my friend Michelle and her two boys up there and they rode the ponies and watched the parade with us. Sophia liked getting to see Santa but it was soooo cold and the line was really long to see him that we just decided we would find one somewhere else. I'm not sure if she would really sit with him anyway but I thought we would give it a try.

Sophia riding Razzle. She later saw him in the parade and yelled "Razzle!!"

Giving the Chic fil A cow a little hug...I didn't realize how big the costume is!

Having a little rest before the parade starts.

Jingle Bells...Jingle Bells....
